Transit | Winner of the 2018 Global Entrepreneurship Award – Quebec
“Find something that bothers you, and work on a solution for yourself. Be your first user”
Transit is a tech company that is making city experiences smarter than ever before.
In 2012, entrepreneurs Sam Vermette and Guillaume Campagna combined the data from 19 separate transit agencies in the greater Montreal region, to give to commuters a free and real-time transit tracker. The app provided up to date information on schedules and accessibility.
Soon it became North America’s favourite transit app, beating out giant competitors like Google Maps and Apple Maps across the continent.
Now offering their service globally, this company is helping millions of commuters across the world – as far-reaching as Nicaragua, providing the best routes for public transit, biking, car-sharing, and just plain old walking, the app even prompts you to walk faster if you are about to miss your bus!
The company has won many acclamations by administrations in cities like Toronto and Mexico City and is now playing an important part of the transit revolution, where more people will enjoy smart public transit over cars.
Startup News had the opportunity to sit down with Sam Vermette to learn more.
