‘Build Your Dream’ accelerator program launches to support women entrepreneurs

Thriving co-working space Make Lemonade is proud to announce a new mentorship program for women-identified business owners in Toronto.

Called “Build Your Dream Accelerator Program,” the initiative will choose 10 women to be part of the inaugural program.

Winners will be accepted into a six-month business accelerator system, where they will receive a “Whole Lemon: Fixed Desk” membership at Make Lemonade to operate their business at the co-working space for the duration of the program. The program also includes a weekly accountability group to keep projects on track and a monthly one-on-one session with a CPA, Business Coach and Brand Strategist mentor (totaling three hours a month). Winners also receive check-in’s every six weeks to track progress, offer support and encourage goal achievement.

So, who can enter? Toronto-based women can send in an application if they own the majority of their company (51% or more) and operate their start-up business full-time. The business must also fit into one or more of the following categories: Food, Hospitality, Creative Arts, Commerce, Technology, Entertainment, Health & Wellbeing, Finance, Law, Education, Media. The last criteria is that all entrants must be committed, passionate and excited about growing their business!

Mentoring the winners will be Emily Foucault, Lisa Zamparo, and Katrina McKay. Brand strategist mentor Emily is the Owner and President of strategic marketing communications agency ThinkHatch. CPA/Accounting/Finances mentor Lisa is a Toronto-based financial strategist and lifestyle optimist. And Business Coach mentor Katrina is a serial entrepreneur and business coach.

Applications to the program will be accepted from July 3 until August 7 at www.MakeLemonade.ca/accelerator. The applicants will be narrowed to a top 15 and those chosen as the top 15 will be invited to Make Lemonade on August 28 for a Pitch Night. The mentors will judge presentations and determine the top 10 winning entrepreneurs for the program. Media are welcome to attend the pitch night and can book interviews with the mentors and program winners.

The “Build Your Dream Accelerator Program” is made possible thanks in part to generous support from partners like Bumble and Hover.
